One guru's advice: If you're going to pay sales commission, base it solely on the project's price, not profit. What do you think?

I paid a base and a sliding commission based on the total sales price. I did not want a sales person bringing "loser" projects because they didn't get paid last week. I agree you have to check outgoing projects on occassion with a long term employee...you better check every budget with a new employee. If you have trained them well with your easy to use estimating system things will be fine...
